With an endowment of $25,000 from NBCUniversal to the Arbor Day Foundation, Share A Tree is poised for another merry season of giving back to the environment. This year, the beneficiary will be Malheur National Forest in Oregon. This location is very much in need of help, as over 66,000 acres were lost in the South Fork Complex Fire of 2014.
NBCUniversal & Arbor Day Foundation Unite for Share A Tree Campaign
This holiday season, Comcast NBCUniversal is proud to sponsor the 2016 Share A Tree campaign in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation. This annual cause enables visitors to create their own holiday story, complete with forest-dwelling creatures like squirrels and foxes that embark on different adventures in the woods. In the spirit of giving, each story shared will directly correlate with the planting of a brand new tree, up to 25,000, in a national forest.
For over eight years, various perennial related efforts have benefited greatly from this initiative. In the past two years, Lake Superior State Forest in Michigan and Pike National Forest in Colorado have seen their forest expanded by a combined 50,000 trees, removing over 8,000 tons of carbon, improving conditions for crucial watersheds, and creating habitats for endangered species. This year, the beneficiary will be Malheur National Forest in Oregon. This location is very much in need of help, as over 66,000 acres were lost in the South Fork Complex Fire of 2014.
With an endowment of $25,000 from NBCUniversal to the Arbor Day Foundation, Share A Tree is poised for another merry season of giving back to the environment. This campaign is part of NBCUniversal’s Green is Universal initiative, which focuses on bringing an environmental perspective to everything we do -- informing and entertaining our audiences while driving more sustainable practices into our own operations.
