Comcast's HD VOD Library Heats Up This Month With TV Favorites and Summer Sci-Fi Sizzlers
Philadelphia, PA.
Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSK, CMCSA), the nation's leading provider of entertainment, information and communications, is offering consumers a wide-range of high-definition (HD) entertainment options on video-on-demand (VOD) this month, including the return of highly-anticipated television series, blockbuster movies, and special sci-fi programming to commemorate NASA's 50th anniversary. The company also marks a major milestone this month with more than eight-billion VOD views since 2003.
In addition to watching new episodes of hot series like Weeds, customers can catch up on entire past seasons of that show and the Emmy-winning comedies The Office and 30 Rock. These offerings, and this month's special sci-fi movie and television features including Close Encounters of the Third Kind, join thousands of Comcast's VOD offerings, which consumers are choosing more than 120 times per second.
"Since launching in 2003, our customers have enjoyed the unprecedented choice and convenience of our On Demand service over 8 billion times," said Derek Harrar Senior Vice President and General Manager of Video Services for Comcast. "This month we have some of the hottest series and comedies coupled with legendary sci-fi movies, so our consumers have everything they want at the touch of a button."
Currently, Comcast's VOD lineup offers more than 10,000 unique selections each month, with more than 500 of those choices available in HD.
