Philadelphia, PA.
Comcast, the nation's leading broadband Internet provider, today
announced that it has bolstered its online Sports Channel on the award-winning Comcast.net portal - adding access to more breaking news, video content from FOXSports.com, exclusive editorial content, real-time statistics, and interactive features. The new online Sports Channel lineup includes news, scores, and standings from all major sports and leagues, including: MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, golf, and major college sports.
New Customization The expanded Sports Channel offers unique features that visitors can use to personalize their experience. The Scoreboard provides users with a listing of in-progress scores and daily schedules, while The Assistant allows users to track the scores from their favorite teams.
Comcast is also introducing the Sports Fan - a broadband media player dedicated to sports video content, in a format that makes it easy to watch, find and save favorite sports video highlights and clips. The "Sports Fan" marks the first spin-off of Comcast's The Fan™, which is responsible for increasing video usage on Comcast.net by a factor of 15.
New Content Comcast scored a major win with the addition of premier FOXSports.com video content to The Fan, Comcast's patent-pending innovative broadband media player found on the Comcast.net home page. Now, Comcast's 5.7 million customers can visit Comcast.net's Sports Channel to view the latest from Fox Sports and Fox Sports Net including player interviews and clips from the popular show, "Best Damn Sports Show Period." Year-round access to FOXSports.com video content will be especially valuable during the playoffs for major professional sports, including the World Series™, and college sports championships.
This announcement closely follows the news that Comcast is providing game highlights of the NHL Conference Finals and Stanley Cup Finals on Comcast.net and via its cable ON DEMAND service, in addition to having broadcast the games in HDTV.
Comcast also added Major League Baseball content from MLB.com, with highlights available on The Fan, including the Daily Highlight, which showcases the previous day's top plays. Comcast High-Speed Internet customers can also sign up to receive special discounts on MLB.com's All-Access service.
