Comcast Serves as Premier Sponsor of 2005 Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Public Policy Conference and Annual Gala
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute today announced that Comcast Corporation will serve as a Premier Sponsor for the CHCI's 2005 Public Policy Conference and Annual Gala.
Every September, during Hispanic Heritage Month, the CHCI convenes a two- day conference in Washington, D.C. with 2,500 elected officials, public policy experts, academics and business leaders to discuss issues of importance to the Latino community. The Annual Gala celebrates and commemorates Hispanic Heritage Month. This year's conference was held on September 12-13 and the Annual Gala is being held on September 14.
In addition to providing direct financial support for this year's conference and gala, Comcast is contributing airtime and production resources to help raise awareness of the conference with Public Service Announcements. Comcast will also fund four $2,500 CHCI college sponsorships to be awarded in 2006 to Latino students who have a history of performing public service- oriented activities in their communities and who plan to continue contributing in the future.
"We are delighted to partner with the CHCI and expand our support for their mission of providing Latino youth with educational and leadership tools and resources," said Comcast Executive Vice President David L. Cohen. "Comcast strives to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and we are intent on expanding our support to the Hispanic community. In addition to this and other ongoing partnerships, Comcast is providing a growing array of Spanish language and Hispanic-themed programming, we are attracting an increasingly diverse workforce, and we are aggressively promoting multiple supplier diversity initiatives at all levels throughout our business."
"We are honored to have Comcast as a partner for CHCI's 2005 Issues Conference and Gala," said CHCI CEO and President Esther Aguilera. "Comcast's support of CHCI is not only helping to raise the visibility of CHCI's week of activities during Hispanic Heritage Month but also helping to fund our leadership programs, which focus on developing the next generation of Latino leaders. We look forward to a continued partnership with Comcast."
