Comcast Offers The Most Blockbuster Hit Movies Ever Available Same Day as DVD

Philadelphia, PA.

Comcast today announced its largest collection of Hollywood hits available the same day as their DVD releases for On Demand customers to enjoy this month - all in high-definition.  Ten major Hollywood movies will be available in customers' homes the moment they're available on DVD.

Through partnerships with major studios including Warner Bros/New Line, Fox, Universal, Summit, Lionsgate, Sony, Paramount and MGM, Comcast is offering more day-and-date movies to its customers than ever.   These movies are performing well - 80 percent of the company's top 10 new releases viewed this year were available on VOD the same day as the DVD release. Earlier this year, the company saw its biggest On Demand movie opening with Twilight the same day the DVD debuted. This effort to release more day-and-date movies is another example of how top content providers are working with Comcast to expand the availability of programming to consumers.

"Everything about the day-and-date model is working," said Derek Harrar, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Video and Entertainment Services for Comcast. "The studios are coming to us more and more with great films, and our customers are enjoying the opportunity to watch newly released films as quickly as possible."

Comcast's same day as DVD releases this month include I Love You, Beth Cooper (11/3), The Taking of Pelham 123 (11/3), Aliens in the Attic (11/3), The Ugly Truth (11/10), My Sister's Keeper (11/17), Bruno (11/17), Angels & Demons (11/24), Funny People (11/24), Four Christmases (11/24) and Shorts (11/24). Other blockbusters in November include Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs - all available in HD. These movies and others can be found On Demand via Channel 1 under "Movies & Events" > "Just In."

This initiative is part of Project Infinity, the company's commitment to innovation and the delivery of exponentially more quality content choice on TV, including more HD. Comcast's signature On Demand program library currently offers more than 17,000 entertainment programs with more than 2,600 choices in HD each month. With more than 13 billion views to date, Comcast's extensive On Demand library features everything from movies, music and top TV shows to the most popular kids, sports, lifestyle and local programs available anytime, anywhere.
