Comcast Names Steve Silva Executive Vice President Of New Business Development

Comcast Cable today announced that Steve Silva will join the company in the newly created position of Executive Vice President, New Business Development.

Mr. Silva will be responsible for identifying and developing new businesses that will leverage Comcast's broadband infrastructure. In this role, he will work closely with the company's Engineering, Marketing and Operating teams across all product lines, including video, data and telephone. Mr. Silva will join Comcast on September 2nd, reporting to Comcast Cable President, Steve Burke.

"With the integration with AT&T Broadband well under way and most of the company ready for advanced services, we feel it is time to accelerate the rollout of new business opportunities," Mr. Burke said. "We are very pleased to have someone as talented and experienced as Steve Silva join our team to help turn opportunities into real businesses."

Mr. Silva most recently served as Chief Technology Officer for Charter Communications in St. Louis, MO, where he also held several key executive positions. Prior to joining Charter in 1995, he worked for CableData in Sacramento, CA. A 20-year cable industry veteran, Mr. Silva has designed numerous computer data centers, national communications networks and played a key role in the development of new products and services such as interactive television, video on demand, personal video recorders and voice over internet protocol (VoIP).

Mr. Silva has served on several company boards and participates in numerous cable industry associations, including CableLabs, the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and the Cable and Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM). He will be relocating to the Philadelphia area with his wife and two daughters.
