Comcast Names Brian A. Rankin Vice President, Deputy General Counsel Comcast Cable

Philadelphia, PA.

Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK), the country's leading provider of cable, entertainment and communications products and services, today announced that Brian A. Rankin has been promoted to Vice President, Deputy General Counsel for Comcast Cable.  

"Brian has quickly distinguished himself with his knowledge of telecommunications law and policy," said Doug Gaston, Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Comcast Cable. "Brian has done an excellent job of attracting top talent to the Voice Services unit and providing legal support to our Comcast Digital Voice service, which is the fastest-growing home phone service in the country." 

Mr. Rankin joined Comcast in 2005 as Senior Counsel, Telephony, and currently serves as the company's Chief Telephony Officer.  A senior legal counselor with over 15 years of telecommunications law and corporate experience, he has held senior positions with XO Communications, Aerial Communications and MCI, representing his clients in FCC proceedings, litigating numerous state PUC proceedings, and negotiating a wide range of large dollar contracts, including interconnection agreements and global voice and data service agreements. 

Mr. Rankin holds a J. D. from DePaul University, an M.B.A. from the University of Alabama, and a B.S. from Illinois State University.  He is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and Illinois.  A veteran of the United States Army, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. 

He also works with a number of community organizations, serving as pro bono legal counsel for Sojourners, a national anti-poverty organization; working as a pro bono volunteer for Philadelphia Law Works; and serving on the Vestry of The Church of the Holy Trinity in Philadelphia.  He and his wife, Soozung Sa Rankin, also are a host family for Curtis Institute of Music international students.
