Comcast Increases On Demand Movie Lineup By 450 Percent Bringing 11,000+ Movie Choices To Customers

Philadelphia, PA.

Comcast announced today it is expanding the number of movie choices offered On Demand more than 450% by adding nearly 9,000 movie titles.  This brings more than 11,000 total movie choices to customers monthly, featuring thousands of movies from every genre including comedy, action, drama, independent, classics and documentaries - with 3,000 available in HD. The expanded movie offering brings the total number of Comcast On Demand choices to more than 25,000.

This significant increase in movie content will begin launching in Comcast's Xfinity markets in Philadelphia and Washington, DC, and will continue rolling out to Comcast Digital Cable customers across the country.  This is made possible by a new content storage and distribution system via Comcast's extensive fiber network and enables the company to offer significantly more content in the near future, including TV series, kids content, music and other special programming.

Comcast's wide-ranging On Demand movie lineup features new release films such as: Nine, Leap Year, The Blind Side, Crazy Heart, The Hangover, The Hurt Locker, Precious and Twilight: New Moon as well as classics like Casablanca, The Exorcist, The Godfather and The Blues Brothers.  For a list of the Comcast expanded movie offering On Demand click here.

"It's the biggest thing we've ever done in On Demand. We're revolutionizing our service with a system that is capable of delivering infinite choice," said Derek Harrar, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Video and Entertainment Services for Comcast. "This is another important step in bringing consumers the multiplatform experience they want."

To deliver on the growing consumer appetite for multiplatform entertainment viewing, Comcast offers a large collection of movies online at no additional cost on Fancast XFINITY TV.  Also, through Fancast XFINITY TV, customers can access nearly 1,500 movies from their cable subscription, and can buy or rent approximately 5,500 movies from the Fancast.com store.  A full list of movies is available through Fancast XFINITY TV.

Comcast's expanded movie offering and movie collections are part of the company's commitment to innovation and the delivery of exponentially more quality content anytime, anywhere, including more movies across multiple platforms.  The company will continue to focus on increasing the number of content choices available to customers through its Xfinity TV, Voice and Internet services that are rolling out in markets across the country this year.
