Comcast Corporation Names David L. Cohen Executive Vice President

Comcast Corporation announced today that David L. Cohen will be joining the company as Executive Vice President, effective July 1, 2002. Cohen will be a member of the executive management team of Comcast responsible for a broad range of corporate functions, and will serve as senior counselor to Comcast President Brian L. Roberts.

Cohen is currently Chairman of the Philadelphia-based law firm Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP. He formerly served as Chief of Staff to Philadelphia Mayor Edward G. Rendell, and was widely credited with overseeing the financial and operational turnaround of the city government on behalf of the Mayor. Cohen is one of the most prominent members of the Philadelphia business community, involved in numerous civic, charitable, and community activities. Along with Roberts, Cohen served as co-chair of Philadelphia 2000, the host committee for the extremely successful 2000 Republican National Convention hosted by Philadelphia two years ago.

"We are delighted to have attracted a proven business leader and executive talent like David to the Comcast family. Our organization will grow dramatically after our pending merger with AT&T Broadband is consummated and the challenges of integrating the two companies are significant. David is a great addition to our team." Roberts also noted, "It is rare to be able to bring someone into the Company with whom I have worked so closely and have such a strong personal relationship."

Cohen noted that it was only the unique opportunity to work with Comcast that persuaded him to resign from his legal practice. "I cannot think of another offer that would have caused me to leave Ballard Spahr, which I believe is the best law firm in the City of Philadelphia and becoming one of the premier law firms in the country," Cohen said. "But the prospect of working with a world-class company like Comcast, with terrific leaders like Brian and Ralph Roberts and their executive management team, is simply an irresistible opportunity. I look forward to joining the Comcast team in July and helping to continue to build the Company," Cohen added.
