Comcast Announces National Local Partnership with United Way

Philadelphia, PA.

Comcast today announced a national and local partnership with United Way of America as the company joined the National Corporate Leadership (NCL) program - United Way's premier program for corporate supporters. The announcement was made today at Mile High United Way headquarters in Denver where the first United Way was founded in 1887. Today's announcement is the second national community partnership for Comcast and underscores the company's commitment to working with local organizations that build strong communities. In May, Comcast announced a partnership with City Year, a national service organization for young people ages 17-24.

Comcast and United Way of America's strategic national local partnership will bring more visibility to the United Way's mission, raise necessary dollars to effectively address issues specific to these local communities, and motivate Comcast employees and others to volunteer with local non-profit organizations.

"United Way and Comcast are both organizations with a national presence but with very strong commitments to the local communities," said David L. Cohen, Executive Vice President, Comcast Corporation. "This is a natural partnership for Comcast because together with the United Way we can more effectively address the issues and needs facing our communities."

Comcast will launch its company-wide United Way giving campaign simultaneously across the country. The campaign, which will run from November 3-14, will assist United Way by providing consistent messaging through co-branded United Way materials and provide turnkey resources for local United Way chapters. The Comcast Foundation will also allocate grants to local United Way chapters based on local employee participation and results of their giving campaign.

"United Way brings communities together around the critical issues and opportunities that only can be addressed collectively," said Brian Gallagher, President and CEO, United Way of America. "We're pleased to have Comcast join the NCL program. Comcast, as the country's leading cable and broadband provider, can bring so much to the table. We're excited about the opportunities we will have to work together."

"This new partnership with Comcast will help our local campaign tremendously while bringing more visibility to Mile High United Way's efforts in building better communities in the Denver area," said Michael Durkin, President, Mile High United Way.

"Comcast's commitment to the United Way began over 40 years ago as company founder Ralph Roberts recognized early on how important United Way was in Comcast communities," added Cohen. "Today as a national company, our President and CEO Brian Roberts recognizes that we have an even larger responsibility to keep our communities strong through this national commitment to United Way."
