Comcast Announces 100th Movie Available On Demand Same Day as DVD Release
Comcast, one of the nation's leading providers of entertainment, information and communication products and services, will bring customers its 100th day-and-date DVD movie of the year with (500) Days of Summer available On Demand beginning December 22. (500) Days of Summer, the recent Golden Globe Award nominee, joins seven other blockbuster movies available this month the moment they are released on DVD - all in high-definition.
Movies available same day as DVD releases continue to rise in popularity and are consistently among the top-performing content On Demand. In November, Comcast On Demand saw its highest performing movie week - ever - with seven of the top 10 performing films viewed for the month available same day as DVD release. Over the past year, Comcast was able to offer more movies same day as DVD release to its customers than ever before through partnerships with major studios including Warner Bros/New Line, Fox, Universal, Summit, Sony and MGM.
"More than 100 times this year, there was no faster way to watch a new release movie at home than with Comcast On Demand," said Derek Harrar, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Video and Entertainment Services for Comcast. "We pioneered day-and-date, so we're thrilled that our studio partners were able to nearly triple our day-and-date movie offering in favor of our customers."
