Comcast and HBO Present A Unique Viewing Experience for the HBO Miniseries The Pacific'; Band Of Brothers' Now Available On HBO On Demand In HD


Comcast and HBO have joined in a premiere partnership to bring all of Comcast's Digital Cable customers exclusive access to a unique viewing experience leading up to the March 14 debut of The Pacific, HBO's new 10-hour miniseries.  Executive produced by Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman, the team behind the Emmy-winning 2001 HBO epic miniseries Band of Brothers, The Pacific tracks the intertwined real-life journeys  of three U.S. Marines - Robert Leckie, Eugene Sledge and John Basilone - across the vast canvas of the Pacific Theater during World War II. 

Starting today, Comcast Digital Cable customers will have access to the first look at a selection of new features about The Pacific, including From Band of Brothers to The Pacific featuring Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg sharing their experiences creating Band of Brothers and how that epic miniseries led to the creation of The Pacific.  In addition, as a lead-in to The Pacific, HBO On Demand will bring back Band of Brothers with a new episode premiering each week, and offer never-before-seen-on-TV companion content On Demand in the "Top Picks" folder.

As part of this unique partnership with HBO, the broad package of content available to Comcast Digital Cable customers includes:  

  • From Band of Brothers to The Pacific: Available exclusively to Comcast customers, this special content features Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg talking about their experiences making Band of Brothers and how it led to the creation of The Pacific. 

  • Scene from The Pacific: An exclusive-to-Comcast early look at a scene from the miniseries with an introduction by the creators.

  • The Making of The Pacific: This unique cut made for Comcast details the creation of the new miniseries.

  • Trailer: A unique cut for Comcast highlights clips from The Pacific.

  • Profiles of The Pacific: Sneak peek at character profiles of the real soldiers from the war.

  • Band of Brothers: One new episode per week of the acclaimed HBO award-winning miniseries will be available on HBO On Demand in HD leading up to the premiere of The Pacific.

  • The Making of Band of Brothers: This feature details the genesis of the project, its casting and the day-to-day grind the actors endured.

  • Band of Brothers Video Diaries: Ron Livingston follows the actors and filmmakers during the filming of Band of Brothers. 

  • We Stand Alone: The Men of Easy Company: A documentary featuring interviews with actual soldiers from Band of Brothers' Easy Company.

 In July 2009, Comcast announced that it was the first cable provider to offer the full HBO On Demand service in HD, bringing the ultimate HBO experience to its customers. As part of this initiative, HBO original and award-winning programming such as True Blood, Big Love, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Sex and the City, along with HBO's extensive lineup of blockbuster movies, documentaries, sporting events, kids programming and comedy specials are available On Demand to Comcast customers who subscribe to HBO.     

Comcast's growing offering of premiere partnerships and exclusive content along with new release movies, new television series and thousands of other viewing choices are part of Project Infinity, the company's commitment to deliver exponentially more quality content choice on TV, including more HD, sports, movies, kids' programs and network TV shows.  Over the course of a month, On Demand offers customers more than 17,000 entertainment choices including 2,600 choices available in HD. Currently, Comcast customers view On Demand programs 350 million times each month.
