Catherine Avgiris Named Senior Vice President and General Manager of Communications and Data Services for Comcast Cable

Philadelphia, PA.

Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK), one of the nation's leading providers of entertainment, information and communication products and services, announced today that Cathy Avgiris has been named Senior Vice President and General Manager of Communications and Data Services for Comcast Cable. Avgiris is responsible for all aspects of Comcast's Xfinity Internet and Xfinity Voice services as well as the Company's High-Speed 2go 4G/3G wireless data service.  

"Cathy has done a tremendous job growing our voice business and launching our 4G wireless data service," said David Juliano, Executive Vice President of Comcast Cable. "Under her leadership, Comcast became the third-largest residential phone services provider in the U.S. in less than four years and I'm confident that Cathy's management expertise will enable us to continue to innovate and grow these other businesses, especially in light of our recent Xfinity launch." 

As a 17-year veteran of the communications industry, Avgiris' influence extends beyond her recent success with Comcast Digital Voice and Comcast High-Speed 2go. From 2000 to 2005, she served as Senior Vice President of Finance for Comcast Cable and managed all financial and operations activities for the online and voice businesses. 

Avgiris has received numerous accolades for her achievements including: being named one of the "Top 15 Women in Business" by PINK Magazine, the "Most Powerful Women in Cable" by Cableworld, a "Wonder Women" by Multichannel News, and a recipient of the Women in Cable and Telecommunications (WICT) Liberty Award. 

Avgiris earned her bachelor's degree in Accounting from Baruch College and she is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Forum for Executive Women, and has served in leadership roles with WICT Philadelphia. She also serves on a variety of community charitable organizations. She and her husband have two sons and live in the Philadelphia region.
