Kevin MacLellan was appointed Chairman, NBCUniversal International in September 2013.

Based in London, MacLellan is responsible for day-to-day operations and international expansion for NBCUniversal businesses outside of North America, including Theatrical, Home Entertainment and Television (distribution, networks and production) with a focus to increase non-US revenues and drive collaborative business growth. MacLellan also works collaboratively with respective international leaders to drive the growth agenda for CNBC International, Telemundo International, Parks & Resorts and NBC News. Additionally, MacLellan supports Comcast’s overseas expansion strategy and serves on NBCUniversal’s Executive Committee.

Since 2011, MacLellan served as President, International Television overseeing all of NBCUniversal’s TV and New Media businesses outside the U.S. In this role, he led the re-organisation of NBCUniversal’s international television operations into a single integrated television division comprised of an industry-leading distribution operation, a strong portfolio of channel brands, a growing stable of production labels and multiple new media platforms. The combined International Television division positioned the company to take a more holistic approach to its portfolio of assets and optimize its value across multiple windows and distribution platforms. 

During MacLellan’s leadership, the International Television Production division developed world-class content for the US and international market, including Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning Downton AbbeyDracula starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, the BAFTA-award winning reality drama series Made in ChelseaFamily Treefor HBO & BBC and About a Boy and Camp for NBC.    

Additionally, MacLellan set out the strategic vision for NBCUniversal’s International Television Distribution (TVD) and Universal Networks International (UNI) divisions. TVD manages free, pay and new media licensing across more than 250 territories with a portfolio of 75,000 television episodes and 4,000 feature films. UNI’s portfolio of international channel brands include: Syfy, Universal Channel, E! Entertainment Television, 13th Street, The Style Network, Studio Universal, DIVA and Golf Channel. These brands deliver quality content to 60 channels in 176 territories across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia.

Prior to his role at NBCUniversal, MacLellan served as President, Comcast International Media Group (CIMG) & Comcast Entertainment Studios (CES). In this capacity, he oversaw Comcast’s international television and new media properties, which included E! Entertainment Television, E! On-line, The Style Network, The Golf Channel, and G4. He was also responsible for all original production for the networks domestically and internationally, including popular franchises such as The E! True Hollywood Story, The Soup, Fashion Police and Live from the Red Carpet.

Under MacLellan’s leadership, Comcast increased their international channel subscribers from 17million to over 100 million and increased syndication revenue by over 500%. 

Prior to Comcast Corporation, MacLellan was Vice President, International Television Networks at Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) in London. He was responsible for managing the company’s channel investments, carriage agreements and partnerships, as well as overseeing business development. Before that, he was Director of Programming for Home Box Office (International) in New York and in Eastern Europe, based in Prague. He began his career in TV production and programming at several leading cable networks in the US, including HBO, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon.
