Gene Shatlock is the Senior Vice President of Customer Experience for Comcast Cable’s Central Division. Prior to his current role, Gene served as senior vice president of business development where he was responsible for new product development as well as programming content management. Gene has also served as senior vice president of Comcast’s Atlanta Region where his responsibilities included overall operating results for more than 800,000 subscribers and the direction and management of over 3,000 employees.
Under his leadership, the Atlanta team delivered dramatic growth in video and high-speed Internet businesses, improved customer service, created alliances with the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves, and launched new services including On Demand, HDTV and Comcast Digital Voice. Gene has also served as Comcast’s regional vice president of marketing and call center operations in Atlanta.
A 36-year veteran of the cable industry, Gene has a rich history of service throughout the industry. He came to the Atlanta Comcast operations from Nashville where he served as area vice president and general manager. He has also served as vice president and general manager for Comcast in Tallahassee, overseeing operations in Tallahassee, Panama City, Lake County and Dothan. In 1997, Gene became area vice president and general manager for Comcast in Chattanooga, with operational responsibility over both Chattanooga and Knoxville. He began his career in Houston, Texas, in 1980 with Columbia Cable where he held various positions in marketing and operations management.
Gene has served on various boards in the communities where he has worked including the United Way board in Nashville, the Urban League in Tallahassee, the Special Olympics Georgia Board in Atlanta, and the Covenant House Georgia board.
He received a bachelor's degree in Communications and Business Administration from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Gene and his wife Jo have three children: Gene III, Caitlyn, and Will.
