Wireless access is increasingly important to our customers, and we are building a network that not only meets today’s needs but also stays ahead of tomorrow's demands. In order to power our customers' growing number of connected devices anytime and anywhere, we need to not only provide access in the home but also on the go - at a shopping district, in a restaurant, on a train platform, at a sports stadium or even in a theme park.
Today, we announced our latest wireless effort in support of Universal Orlando’s new mobile app that helps guests to navigate around the park, check wait-times, view interactive maps and find nearby dining, shopping and restroom options.

To ensure guests have a great app experience, we believe you also need to have the best Wi-Fi network.
That’s why we’ve partnered with Universal Orlando and launched hundreds of Xfinity WiFi hotspots across both Universal Orlando theme parks – Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida – and at Universal CityWalk. Coverage includes all main walkways, most indoor dining and shopping venues, plus attraction queue lines.
Better yet, we have made access to these hotspots free for all guests (whether an Xfinity Internet subscriber or not) during their visit so they can easily connect to Wi-Fi to e-mail pictures to friends and family back home, post updates on Facebook, and use the Official Universal Orlando Resort App while strolling through The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
The app, available as a free download for Apple and Android mobile devices, gives guests the ability to pull up attraction wait times, maps, show times, ride updates, social network features and in-park notifications. Over time, there are plans to add features like e-commerce purchase capability, customizable itineraries, social sharing and more.
Today we have 3 million Xfinity WiFi hotspots nationwide and we have plans to reach 8 million hotspots across the country before the end of the year. We will continue to look for strategic locations to place hotspots so our customers can have fast, secure and convenient Internet access wherever they need to connect. Since we’ve launched Xfinity WiFi in Universal Orlando we’re seeing up to 5,000 unique devices connect to our Wi-Fi hotspots daily. This is encouraging and I’m sure over time we will see that number increase as more people become aware that free Wi-Fi is available around the park.
By the way, while you’re visiting the Sunshine State, also take advantage of the thousands of Xfinity WiFi hotspots we recently launched in the Palm Beach area and we’re looking forward to lighting up additional hotspots throughout the country in the very near future.
