While Game of Thrones topped the charts week after week on Xfinity On Demand this season, we wanted to find out what is keeping fans glued to the TV this summer. So we took a look at what shows Xfinity customers across the country watched most in June, and while there were many similarities among cities like Aquarius and Wayward Pines, each city has a few unique favorites.
For example, west-coasters have a thing for the start-up world, with Silicon Valley making the list in Seattle, Portland and San Francisco. Texas Rising only made it into Houston’s top 10, and Atlanta residents have a soft spot for Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. Political comedy Veep and news show Last Week Tonight with John Oliver only made appearances on Washington, D.C.’s list, and San Francisco was the only one to feature a telenovela, El Senor de los Cielos. And while every city can’t get enough of guilty-pleasure The Bachelorette, Minneapolis stands alone in its dedication to the fictional series about life behind-the-scenes of a dating reality show, UnREAL.
Looking to check out some of the shows on your city’s list, but not sure where to start? Starting July 13, we’re kicking off the ultimate summer event, featuring 100 of the summer’s hottest movies and TV shows on demand, based on insight from our team of TV fanatics, Nielsen ratings and fan favorites. In addition to local favorites from Portland to Miami, this year’s hotlist includes coast to coast hits like Game of Thrones, Power, Complications, The Whispers and America’s Got Talent, as well as San Francisco pick Odd Mom Out, True Detective – a staple in Denver, Boston and Portland – and Atlanta must-see, Braxton Family Values.
The event will give TV junkies the chance to explore new summer shows like The Strain and The Last Ship, as well as movies like Run all Night and Jupiter Ascending, and even Latino telenovelas such as El Señor de los Cielos and Lo Imperdonable. The summer hotlist includes 26 curated collections such as "Make Me Laugh," "Red Hot Right Now," "Freak Me Out" or "Across the Pond," featuring more than 250 titles to suit any mood or craving.
With so much great TV, this year’s Summer Hotlist is the ultimate viewer’s guide to finding and discovering new shows.
