3,000+ applied and one prevailed! Meet Bryan Mapes, the man that out-tweeted the competition to land the 2014 Xfinity Ultimate Sports Social Media Job. Mapes will soon take over as XFINITY’s new sports social media voice, a position that will challenge him to keep 40,000 plus followers up to date on the best ways to watch the biggest games as they happen in real-time.

With Xfinity TV on the X1 Entertainment Operating System, three flat-screen HD TV’s, a laptop and an iPad there is no question that Bryan will be able to effortlessly manage all the sports watching he can handle from the best seat in the house. Mapes will become our customers’ go-to-resource for sports and game updates, provide links and information on how they can access and watch across Xfinity TV platforms, and conduct Twitter chats with your favorite sports personalities.

A Brookfield, CT native and die-hard sports fan, Bryan has been able to turn a life-long passion into a career. Mapes beat out over 20,000 applicants to finish in the Top 30 of the 2013 MLB Fan Cave competition. He’s gone on to use that experience and his Broadcast Journalism degree from Hofstra University to launch his sports blog/podcast "Three Up, Three Down."

But winning the 2014 #XFINITYDREAMJOB contest was no easy task. Throughout the 2 ½-week competition, Mapes and thousands of others tweeted around the clock trying to prove they had what it would take to become the next voice of @XFINITYSports. Bryan’s sports insights and witty personality helped him secure his spot as one of the #XFINITYDREAMJOB finalists. From there, Bryan and the 6 other finalists traveled to Philadelphia to interview in person at Comcast Center. It was there that his sports knowledge, dynamic personality and social media skills proved to be a home run and landed him the job.

Mapes has big shoes to fill, following in the footsteps of former winners Austin Schindel and Vance McCullough, but he is more than up to the challenge.  "I’m honored and beyond excited to be chosen as the new XFINITY Sports Guy!  I can’t wait to follow in Austin and Vance’s footsteps and bring all the sports excitement to the fans.  I love to talk sports, so make sure you’re following me on Twitter @XFINITYSports to join the discussion every day.  I can’t wait to hear from you!" – Bryan Mapes
