We’re bringing our X1 Platform to Xfinity TV customers in more major markets around the country, as we work to deliver this next-generation TV experience in half of our service areas by the end of June, and throughout our footprint by the end of the year.
The X1 Platform is currently available to customers in areas of Atlanta; Augusta, Ga.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; Greater Boston; Philadelphia; New Jersey; Washington D.C.; Independence, Mo.; Colorado Springs, Colo., and the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Fresno, Stockton and Santa Barbara, Calif. More major markets will be launched soon.
The X1 platform is an entertainment operating system designed to make it easier to discover, access and share entertainment. The platform delivers the world’s largest collection of video, features single search functionality across live TV, Xfinity On Demand, and DVR content, and personalizes the viewing experience with social media integration as well as recommendations based on viewing history.
With cloud-enabled IP technology, we are capable of innovating and improving the customer experience faster than ever. We’ve completed nearly 200 updates to the X1 platform in 2013 alone, and more than 1,200 since its launch in 2011. Our customers will get a significant benefit with one of our next updates, as we will double the number of programs customers can record on their DVR from two to four and enable them to watch and record up to five shows at the same time. These updates, which will be enabled for all X1 subscribers later in May, are part of the fastest innovation cycle we’ve ever had as a company , and there’s much more innovation to come.
