Recently, the Comcast Ventures portfolio company, WhoSay took another step toward reinventing how online and mobile readers get their coveted – and voraciously consumed – celebrity and entertainment news.

WhoSay has launched a first-of-its-kind digital entertainment magazine built and powered by celebrities, including over 1,500 influential personalities across film, TV, music and sports. The startup debuted a free iOS fan app plus a redesigned desktop platform, WhoSay.com, which allows fans to customize access to highly-interactive and personal digital celebrity news.  The web and mobile platforms bring together real-time social content, including photos and videos direct from favorite stars on Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr, with curated, meaningful news about the work, personal passions and causes of celebrities. The result is a focused and unique entertainment experience for fans – plus a simple way for celebrities to tell their stories to their most important and loyal followers across the entire media landscape.

Comcast Ventures invested in WhoSay in 2012, seeing significant promise in the startup’s ability to evolve the way people engage with entertainment content.  Now, with 2 million registered fans and 12 million monthly visitors across web and mobile, WhoSay is creating real buzz within the entertainment news industry, as media outlets like People.com, Huffington Post and eOnline have shared WhoSay-curated content on their platforms.

Keep an eye out for more from this innovative company in the months to come, including the WhoSay Android fan app set to launch in 2014.
