Earlier today, we told you about the Federal Communications Commission's latest report: Measuring Broadband in America — A Report on Consumer Wireline Broadband Performance in the U.S. . Well, we've had a chance to review the results, and we are very pleased to report that the FCC has not only found that ISPs in America largely deliver on their advertised speeds, but that on average Comcast's Xfinity Internet service exceeds our advertised speeds. The report also highlights the value of our patented PowerBoost™ technology which provides our customers with bursts of speeds which, according to the FCC report, can increase a customer's speed by over 200%.
We work to deliver the fastest speeds to every customer, and while there are many factors that may affect an individual user's experience (see our post from earlier today), the FCC report is the most comprehensive analysis of broadband capabilities ever conducted in the U.S. This official government report reinforces our claim that Comcast delivers the fastest speeds to more homes than anyone and provides the best online experience for all of the Internet-connected devices consumers now have in the home.
Below are some of the highlights we found in today's report:
-
Xfinity Internet delivers on its advertised speeds. On average, during the busiest hours of the day, Xfinity Internet delivers 100% of its advertised speed or greater in both the upstream and downstream directions. Comcast is the only ISP to demonstrate that consistency across its entire footprint.
-
PowerBoost™ delivers when our customers need it. Only cable has it, and the FCC found that PowerBoost™ can increase some customers' speeds by over 150% when downloading and over 200% when uploading.
-
When surfing the Web, Xfinity consistently has the fastest download speeds. We know that our customers use their broadband service for all kinds of things, but we also know that web surfing still tops their list of priorities, and our performance in web downloading for our most subscribed tiers is industry leading.
Of course, this is not the end of the story. As broadband becomes more important to all of the things we do, we are committed to remain on top in meeting and beating our customers' expectations. We look forward to continuing to serve our customers.
