I’m a holiday road warrior, traveling house-to-house and sometimes state-to-state to visit family and friends. Some trips are quick and others last a few days.
If you’re like me, you might be feeling a little anxious about all of the things that you still need to do before you leave. You also might just be worried about leaving your home unattended for an extended period of time.
That’s why I thought I’d share a few ways that I like to use Xfinity Home to stay connected and keep an eye on what’s happening back at home, all from my smartphone, tablet or laptop.
-
Watch the live video feed from my security cameras on my iPhone so I’m able to check-in from time-to-time just to make sure all is well in and around my home. I can also check to see if any last minute packages have been delivered to my front door.
-
Receive real-time text, email and picture alerts to get notified anytime a door or window is opened. If you have a dog walker or pet sitter you can use these features to alert you when they enter and leave your house.
-
Control my holiday lights remotely or through a lighting schedule. Additionally, active lights make a home look occupied even if you’re away.
-
Adjust my thermostat so that I am not heating an empty house or I just set it and forget it and allow EcoSaver to work its magic and manage my heating and A/C for me.
-
Monitor my water sensor to make sure a pipe didn’t burst in my basement or water isn’t leaking near my washing machine.
-
And last but not least, when I return from my trip I like to disarm my security system from my iPhone after pulling into the driveway – one less thing to worry about when I actually enter my house.
This time of year can be stressful. With Xfinity Home, we’re trying to give you one less thing to think about when you’re out and about. Happy traveling!
