In our continuing effort to introduce compelling LGBT content to a broader audience, we are partnering with Equality Forum, coordinator of LGBT History Month, to highlight three inspiring stories of courageous individuals for all Xfinity TV customers to enjoy.
Saint of 9/11 presents the story of Father Mychal Judge, beloved chaplain of the New York Fire Department and the first official victim of 9/11. An iconoclast, a champion of the needy and forgotten, and a gay man, Fr. Mychal wrestled with his own private demons while touching others in powerful and miraculous ways. The film is narrated by Sir Ian McKellen.
Gay Pioneers is a documentary chronicling the first organized gay and lesbian civil rights demonstrations and the courageous individuals who staged them. Each Fourth of July from 1965 to 1969, activists from New York, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia protested in front of Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Known as the "Annual Reminders", the demonstrations marked the first time activists from more than one city gathered together in a unified call for equality.
JIM IN BOLD is an award-winning film about the impact of homophobia on LGBTQ youth. This moving documentary tells the story of Jim Wheeler, a talented gay teen from rural Pennsylvania, who took his own life in 1997. The tragedy inspired three members of Young Gay America to travel across the country interviewing LGBTQ youth about what it means to be gay and spark a conversation leading to greater acceptance and awareness.
