Yesterday, we held a job fair in Spokane, WA to kick off hiring for our new customer support center there. The Spokane center joins our new customer support centers in Tucson and Albuquerque, all a part of our commitment to hire 5,500 new customer service employees. For those who are counting, between Tucson, Albuquerque and Spokane, we have now announced more than 2,250 new jobs since we committed to this expansion just over a month ago.
We’re building a permanent state-of-the-art center that will open in summer 2016 – but we will be opening an interim facility so we can start hiring and helping our customers immediately. The interim location is more than 50,000 square feet and located at 2818 N. Sullivan Rd in Spokane Valley.
Yesterday’s hiring ‘meet and greet’ was great – about 200 people attended to learn more about the jobs available, and speak with current Comcast employees. More than 1,100 applications have already been submitted for the 750 new jobs. Representatives from various local organizations attended, including local veterans groups in support of our commitment to hire 10,000 reservists, veterans and their spouses or domestic partners by the end of 2017.
So far, we’ve had a great response at our centers in Albuquerque and Tucson as well. We’ve received over 2,200 applications at Albuquerque and more than 1,200 in Tucson, and we have already started hiring some fantastic people.
The new hires in all three of these centers will help us bring customers across the country the support they need – it’s an important step toward our goal of making call wait times shorter and helping customers get their service or billing issues resolved faster.
There will be additional hiring activities and opening celebrations for our Spokane center later in the summer and interested applicants can apply here.
