On April 4, my friends and I will put on our finest threads, walk down the red carpet, enjoy a little champagne and watch the star-studded 27th Annual GLAAD Media Awards Show. No, we won’t be in L.A. [or New York]. We will be in the comfort of my own home watching the show only on Logo at 10|9c, airing live on TV for the first time ever.
And we’re excited to announce a few more ways Xfinity TV customers can enjoy easy access to the show and some of the nominated TV and films.
On April 4, our customers will be able to live tune to the award show directly from a new tile on Xfinity On Demand. They of course can also use their X1 voice remote to quickly find and start watching the award show.
Can’t tune in to the live event? On April 5, the full show will be available to watch from Logo on Xfinity On Demand and on April 11, it will be available on XfinityTV.com.
In addition, for the whole month of April, we’ve polished up the LGBT TV & Film Collection with hundreds of quality LGBT-themed storylines, romance, dramas, classics, thrillers, documentaries plus GLAAD nominated TV and Films. Start by watching these GLAAD nominated series:
-
The entire first season of Cucumber and Banana presented by Logo. The British companion series was created by out writer and producer Russell T. Davies (Doctor Who, Queer as Folk).
-
The third season of MTV’s acclaimed series Faking It, winner of the 2014 Teen Choice Award for "Choice TV Breakout Show." Faking It was created by Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov and is executive produced by Carter Covington.
-
Logo’s As Beautiful As I Want To Be which pairs trans young people with successful trans leaders to explore what it means to be beautiful on the inside and out.
-
MTV’s True Life: I Am GenderQueer which follows two people who do not identify as male or female and live outside the gender binary.
It's with great pride that we’re able to offer this comprehensive experience to our customers and in GLAAD’s own words, "recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives."
With that same thoughtfulness, and joyfulness we will be watching and hope you will join us. We can all meet up on the red carpet on Twitter #XfinityLGBT!
