Recently, leaders from industry, academia and the Internet community selected new board members for the Internet Society, a group that provides strategic support for Internet-related standards, education, and policies. I would like to congratulate our very own Jason Livingood on his appointment to the board!

The Internet Society comprises distinguished leaders from around the global Internet community. The board members bring to the organization a broad cross-section of experience and global perspectives, as well as a keen interest in making a positive impact on the future of the Internet.

As he serves his 2-year term, Jason will have an opportunity to impact Internet education and accessibility. Both topics are critical to the future of the Internet and central to Comcast's mission as we're demonstrating with our launch of Internet Essentials across the country, for example.

The Internet Society is a trusted independent source of leadership on Internet policy, standards, education and the future development of the Internet. Based on its principled vision and substantial technological foundation, the Internet Society works with its Members and Chapters around the world to promote the continued evolution and growth of the open Internet through dialog among companies, governments, and other organizations. It also provides critical support to groups like the Internet Engineering Task Force, to help ensure the continued health of an open, consensus-based Internet standards process. Once again, congratulations to Jason!
