I am delighted to announce that Comcast NBCUniversal was recently inducted into the Billion Dollar Roundtable and we’re the first media and technology company to join this prestigious list.
The Billion Dollar Roundtable was created in 2001 to recognize and celebrate corporations that spend at least $1 billion with minority-owned and woman-owned suppliers annually. These companies are dedicated to delivering the best experience to their customers and audiences, and to ensuring that access to the supply chain is open to everyone.
Supplier diversity at Comcast NBCUniversal is a function of our procurement department. With the great support and guidance of our company's Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer, David L. Cohen, and our Executive Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer, Peter Kiriacoulacos, I lead a team of supplier diversity professionals who work meticulously to connect with business owners. The team also partners with local and national organizations, and chambers to increase awareness of the partnership opportunities across our business units.
Because of our team’s efforts, we have the privilege of working with hundreds of diverse suppliers that are devoted not only to developing the highest quality products, but to maintaining a diverse workplace and in many cases, maintaining strong diverse subcontracting relationships.
Between 2010 and 2014, Comcast NBCUniversal spent more than $5 billion with diverse vendors, including minority-owned, women-owned, and veteran-owned business enterprises. In 2014 alone, the company spent $2 billion in direct contracts with diverse vendors. We also have a subcontracting (Tier II) program that helps our primary (Tier I) vendors to secure strategic partnerships with diverse suppliers.
These milestones, and this recognition from the Billion Dollar Roundtable, are a testament to the hard work of my team, and to Comcast’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. It is also a reflection of the great work of our diverse suppliers in maintaining the very highest of standards, and the very best execution and delivery of products and services to help advance our business goals.
We are honored to become the 21st member of the Billion Dollar Roundtable.
