Call it Portland unplugged. Tomorrow Comcast is launching the kickoff of a nationwide rollout of high-speed wireless data. What does that mean? It means that for the first time, customers will have access to both the fastest fast in-home speeds (Comcast High-Speed Internet) with the nation’s fastest wireless speeds (over a fourth generation wireless network or 4G.) I’m personally thrilled to be a member of the team launching this brand-new service for Comcast and look forward to many coming innovations as we begin to bring the best of Comcast’s services from inside the home out. Like most of you, mobile access to the Internet, my email, even my home voicemail via SmartZone is now an important part of staying connected – at home or on the go.

Portland is the first to experience Comcast High-Speed2go and our newly bundled "Fast Pack" – a combination of High-Speed Internet at home and 4G on the go for the introductory price of $49.99 per month for one year. High-Speed2go will be coming to Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia and more before the end of 2009.

Two different services are available: a 4G only product for metro areas (since the 4G coverage is largely in metro areas) and a separate dual mode card that is both 3G and 4G capable allowing access to 3G wireless networks across the country. Our partners in providing this service are Clearwire for 4G and Sprint for 3G. For more information visit www.comcast.com/highspeed2Go. We’ll be posting more information about the Portland launch and the rollout of High-Speed2go in the coming weeks.
