According to AAA, two-thirds of American families plan travel over the summer. As anyone with children knows, the time spent on long car rides, waiting in lines, or stuck at an airport can be among the toughest parts of the travel season. Having the flexibility to pick up the device you’re traveling with and launch your child’s favorite movie with a few simple clicks could be just what’s needed to help pass the time.
Comcast is helping its customers get ready for the season by launching a week of deep discounts in the Xfinity Digital Store on the movies that kids love to watch, again and again.
From May 20 – 26, Xfinity TV customers will have access to nearly 100 movies, all priced under $10. This collection of films will include one of the biggest hits of 2014, The Lego Movie, which is available for purchase on May 20, four weeks before its DVD release. Earning more than 250 million at the box office and plans for a sequel already underway, The Lego Movie is currently ranked as the #1 film of 2014 by Rotten Tomatoes with a 96 percent Tomatometer.
Other family favorites include a mix of current favorites and classics like: Nut Job, Turbo, The Croods, Ice Age, E.T. and The Wizard of Oz, and hit franchises like Alvin and the Chipmunks, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Night at the Museum, Percy Jackson, Spider-man, Harry Potter and Happy Feet. Most films will be priced for $9.99 HD or $7.99 SD. For the full list of discounted films, visit www.xfinity.com/moviesale.
As an added bonus for customers, starting May 21 the Xfinity Digital Store will "unlock" one movie title a day that can be purchased for just $.99. The daily movie sales will be announced on www.xfinity.com/moviesale and also via Xfinity’s Facebook page.
The Xfinity Digital Store makes owning and enjoying digital content on the biggest screen in the house as easy as clicking a remote. It eliminates the hassle of managing files, connecting devices or remembering passwords. To get started, movies can be purchased directly though the Xfinity On Demand menu on the set-top box, or purchased online at Xfinity.com/Store. Once purchased, the movies can be enjoyed anywhere, anytime, on a customer’s TV, online or even through the Xfinity On Demand Purchases app. Owned content can even be downloaded directly to customer’s devices and enjoyed in places where there’s no Internet connection such as on airplanes, on road trips, and even in beach houses.
Launched at the end of 2013, the Xfinity Digital Store catalog includes hundreds of movies and TV shows from Twentieth Century Fox, Lionsgate, MGM, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. It not only offers Xfinity TV customers the convenience of purchasing and watching digital content directly on the TV, but it seamlessly integrates that owned content alongside the robust library of free On Demand and live programming that is available with their subscription.
