For another student, utilizing the Web from home allows her to keep in touch with family members across the state and the country. 

For still another, the Internet is used for ordinary daily activities, such as looking up recipes and the weather forecast, and some less than ordinary activities: searching directions to rebuild a fishing boat, a recent family project.
