Maria G. Arias is the Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion for Comcast Corporation.  In this role, Maria develops the strategy and oversees the implementation of the diversity and inclusion initiatives across the company in five focus areas: governance, workforce, procurement, programming, and community investment.  Maria works closely with Comcast’s Executive Internal Diversity Council, and the external Comcast NBCUniversal Joint Diversity Advisory Council, comprised of more than 40 national civil rights, community and business leaders from various disciplines. 

Maria previously served as Vice President of Operations for Comcast Cable’s Southern Colorado systems, where she led technical operations and alternative sales channels.  Prior to that, she was the Vice President of Operations for the West Division, Interim Vice President of Technical Operations for the West Division, and Interim General Manager for Comcast’s Colorado Mountain Area and Tucson, Arizona cable systems.

Before joining Comcast in 2007, Maria spent time with both Adelphia Communications, AT&T Corporation and AT&T Broadband in various legal and government affairs roles.  Prior to that, Maria was an income partner with national law firm McDermott, Will & Emery in Chicago, IL, specializing in commercial litigation.

Maria currently serves on the Board of Directors for the YMCA Philadelphia & VICINITY and Congreso de Latinos Unidos.  She holds a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law.

Maria lives in Philadelphia with her husband, Thomas C. Pelto, and together they have five children.
