Basketball Everywhere: Final Four Mobile Viewership Climbs Nearly 300 Percent

This year, the NCAA men’s basketball tournament had the highest average ratings in 22 years and broke viewership records across all platforms as record numbers of basketball fans tuned in on the big screen, on mobile devices and computers to catch all the thrills and upsets of 68 teams competing for the national title.

Across Xfinity TV platforms, the Big Dance drew record-breaking consumption once again with 1.6 million live streams of tournament play across Xfinity TV Go platforms, up 119 percent from last year.

But the highly anticipated Final Four, featuring some of the biggest names in college basketball, drew the greatest demand. TVE viewership across Xfinity TV Go platforms skyrocketed, up 292 percent year over year with nearly 330,000 total live streams for the action-packed semifinal games.

We’ve seen tremendous growth and adoption of TV Everywhere and the power of live sporting events like The World Cup and the Olympics continue to drive engagement. Xfinity is the ultimate destination for watching the biggest sporting events, and we’re focused on providing more access to more content across platforms, making it easy for our customers to watch sports content when, where and how they want.
